I will never cruise with Holland America again

My wife & I are veteran cruisers, & have sailed with Holland America 7 or 8 times. We have also sailed on many other lines. We have never purchased cruise insurance , as we have been healthy & didn't see the need. However, last month I had a heart attack a week before a scheduled Oosterdam cruise. We contacted Holland America, but they would only refer us to the agent we had used for this cruise ( Cruise.com). The agent said they would cancel the cruise - we would lose the entire fare but would have to pay them a $50 cancellation fee!!! That's the first & last time we'll use that agent. I then wrote to Micky Arison, the CEO of Carnival, who owns Holland America. I explained that we had cruised with them quite a few times, had to cancel due to my heart attack, & would like a refund, or at least some credit towards a future cruise. Since we were good customers, I thought we would get at least a little consideration. Their response? A cheap, tiny bouquet of flowers & a get well soon card. We intend to take many more cruises in the future, but never again with these cold, unfeeling people.
