Taxis in Puerto Vallarta changed color

A friend in PV sent me this information: I know that many people on the board always recommend to take the yellow taxi`s instead of the white ones to go downtown. Well, guess what? I guess you recommended it too much! Recently all white taxis turned........yellow! So, in case you do not want to be ripped off, here is my advice. All taxis within the Port area have to pay a port fee. Derecho de Piso it is calles in Spanish. Obviously, they charge it to you. If you walk out of the port, towards the main road, you see a PEMEX Gasstation. Hold a taxi on the mainroad. 99% of these taxi`s are NISSAN Tsuru. They are yellow WITH white, unlike the ones in Port, which nowadays are white or yellow. Another way to see the difference is by the licenseplates. Port Taxi`s have a federal license plate with an orange line, citytaxi`s have "regular taxi" license plates. Enjoy my beautiful town!
